Life is precious!

I know that it's no news to you, but still, are you really acting like it. Probably NOT! .....until it hits too close to home!

Well, that is actually what happened right here in our little community. A wonderful mother, wife, friend and teacher passed away after her long fight with cancer. We will all miss you, Heide, even though some of us might not even have known you that well, like myself.
Still your strength inspired us all!
Not tomorrow but today I will make a change!
Happy Mothers Day.

Thanks

“So, when were you done learning how to draw....?”

“So when were you done learning how to draw”?

That question once asked me a little boy during my Art sessions back in Germany some 17 years ago. ....Well as you guessed right I told him that you are never done learning. At that moment I just meant to give him a good honest grown up answer and I thought that I taught him something valuable!

What I did not realize though, was that that is the main thing that drives me, and not just as an artist! For me, learning about drawing is a life lesson, not settling for something that looks ok, but instead putting all of yourself into that moment of creating. It could end up in a pile of a couple of sketches or one painting, in which you work through problems and not settle for anything, but to get it right!

I wonder what the little boy, now in his twenties, does. Did it have an impact on him, I am sure of some sort. I wish I could talk to him now and tell him that the exciting world of learning and asking questions should never end because that is why I get up in the morning and try to get better in whatever I do!

Homage to Charlotte Bara!

Homage to Charlotte Bara!

You don't know who that is? Well she was an expressionistic german dancer, born in 1901. She moved to Ascona, Switzerland in her twenties where her father had a theater build for her! Wow!! Her Family lived in the Theatro San Materno, right across. I used to go visit her with my parents when she was still alive. And she was a well educated, knowledgeable and well read lady who in her 80s still was a very strong beautiful woman. Extraordinary!!!! I am blessed to have met her! Oh, she had so many cats living with her in her Castello and she gave me one of them, my first cat, whose name was FRIGOLETTE. Since that time I am a cat lover!
If you want to know more about Charlotte Bara

I was listening!

I was listening!

First day on my blog! How exciting!

Well I was actually listening, which is not only the title of my painting above. Listen to people instead of always trying to talk...I know it’s a hard one. Do you want to know what’s even harder? LISTEN TO YOURSELF!
Learning what you are all about...what makes you special... all and only for the benefit of finding out your own strength and value. Learning to never give up! Teaching Kids exactly that, is so inportant. I just started teaching again, after a longer break from moving and trying to spend all the extra time with my paintings in my studio.
